New Haven Bird Club
Mitchell Branch Library, 37 Harrison Street, New Haven, CT 06515
The New Haven Bird Club (NHBC) is joining us for a variety of hands-on lessons and activities all about birds and birdwatching, to spread the joy and beauty of observing birds and nature up close!
For this second session, NHBC and Lights Out CT members will introduce Bird Collisions in the Anthropocene, a collective community art project that engages the public about bird collisions with glass. Glass collisions are a leading cause of bird mortality, and this project will highlight solutions you and others can take to prevent them.
Using recycled fabric scraps and glue, you will recreate one of the 10,836 birds that were killed by colliding with glass in Chicago in 2023. They will then become part of an art installation that can be used to raise awareness for this issue. Come be a part of this important project!
Registration is requested.
